Relearning How to use water color

Posted by miles0282 at 11:03 PM

My two old prang water color sets

When I was younger I was really fascinated by water color paintings. I'm asthmatic so the best painting medium for me would be water color. No smelly paint thinner, no turpentine, its just needs water and lots of patience. Unfortunately what looks like very simple paintings is very hard to. Water color is one of the hardest medium to master. Compared to other mediums water color is not expensive...till you get to the water color paper part. I tried to use my sketchbook to make a descent painting but it was hard because the paper became soggy! Water color involves a lot of water and if the paper is not made for that you will get a torn painting! So even though I am trying to save I have to shell out 104 pesos for a piece of water color paper. I cut it to smaller pieces. I had 16 pieces. Thats 6 pesos per small 4x6 water color paper. Since I still studying I am going to maximize the materials. There is no room for mistakes....yeah right.

Well this is the result of my first attempt.

it is actually a glass cat shaped candle holder
which looks like a muddy sleeping cat!!!
