I started wearing specs during my second year in high school. Now you rarely see me wear glasses because I'm too lazy to wear them. I am only forced to wear them at night or when I watch a movie in the cinema.
I moved from one place to another that I missed having my yearly eye check up. My last check up was in 2006 and it was not my usual doctor. It's more than a year and I need new specs!
Before I do some specs shopping I surfed the net for sites selling prescription glasses. I found Zenni Optical. They offer lots of choices and with reasonable prices. You can have your lenses have anti scratch coating, UV protection and Lens Edge polishing and beveling for free.

Happiness makes me fat and comfortable.

Can't seem to focus on anything. I quickly did my task and left a flash animation undone.
I feel unhinged and tormented.
Happiness doesn't seem to fit me. It makes me fat.
All I could think about all morning is your smile. Why, oh why did I have to see your face.
I must stop this insanity.
I can't stop thinking about her...

Time seems to fly fast. It's already a month. This is my retrospective of the months before I found Uly.
When I look back...I remember Uly as the guy who I always teased "Jericho..or Panday" not because he looked like Jericho Rosales but because he had the same long curly hair. I barely knew him then. He was just another officemate.
He was most of the time oblivious with people around him. You could always see him haunched in front of his PC with his crossed eyebrows and minding his own task.
This is his picture with his secret admirer mam L (selos ako!)
I don't know how it happened but an officemate had set eyes on him for her personal project (The Uly Project).
I on the other hand was mending a broken heart. Tino my close officement teased me that I should make Uly my Mr. January since he had no girl friend (since birth). Trying to make fun of my broken-hearted-ness I wrote in my status in my skype "Finding Mr. January."
There was a pre-Chirstmas activity led by Mam L. at the office. We were given hearts to write our thanks giving prayer or wish. I made mine but I got an extra heart. So to tease Uly I wrote his name on it. I PM him on his skype "do you want to see what is in my heart?". As usual he nonchalantly answered "bakit ano pala nasa heart mo?". I just replied "you will see". Before I left for Piccobello that day I gave him the heart. The look on his face was definitely priceless. hehehehe
That is when me and Lelit tortured Uly with our incessant harmless flirting. He always had this "pikon" reaction when we teased him. Somehow we even dragged him to go with couple of outings with the "A group".
It's just a month. Too early to say what will the future will hold. Right now I've became a silly-irrational-kilig-kilig-so-unlike-me-teenagerlike girl. It does not make sense why I like you but does love have to make sense all the time?

From hotcakes and syrup my morning went to conversation about hot guys. I remember an old blog post (Im a cheesy hopeless romantic). Then I remembered a picture I found in Getty images. I don't know the guy but every time I stare at the picture really gives me the chill. I know I will see you but at least I hope I will who you are. So if anyone of recognized this guy PLEASE PM me.
At first I heard rave reviews of a Russian movie titled "Night watch" that became a blockbuster hit. I was really attracted to this movie when I saw the trailer. It showcased very nice visual effects. Unfortunately it was not widely released in theaters here in the Philippines. I did got a pirated Dvd but there was something wrong with the subtitles on the last part (that why one must buy the original) so I just watched the movie and did not really understand what was happening. Still I watched the movie since I love the visuals.
But there was another movie Day watch which I still have not seen. What I am really interested is the Night Watch tetralogy! Just yesterday I was looking at book in National Bookstore I came upon the three books of the series. I REALLY want to buy them but it costs php 600+ a book and that would mean I would shell out almost 2k for the three books.
I can buy the books since but I am also saving up for a new cell phone. My brain tells me I should not buy the books because I NEED to buy a cell phone but with lots of idle time it would definitely NICE to read those books.
hmmmm what should I choose?

The Old Kingdom series (also known as the Abhorsen series in North America) is a trilogy of books by Garth Nix. It begins with Sabriel, then Lirael and concludes with Abhorsen. In addition, a supplement to the series entitled Nicholas Sayre and the Creature in the Case was released, first separately for World Book Day and later as the lead story of the short story collection Across the Wall: A Tale of the Abhorsen and Other Stories. A second short story, An Extract of the Journal of Idrach the Lesser Necromancer, was written with exclusive distribution through the official Abhorsen Trilogy web site. Garth Nix has recently signed a reported seven figure deal for three new titles, with two being additions to the Old Kingdom series, a prequel and a sequel; the first, which has the working title Clariel: The Lost Abhorsen, will appear in 2010 and 2011.
This another set of books from young adult fiction that I love. I bought and read this series in my College days. As usual I was drawn by its cover art.
This is the cover art that caught my eye
*Necromancy (Greek νεκρομαντία, nekromantía) is a form of divination in which the practitioner seeks to summon "operative spirits" or "spirits of divination", for multiple reasons, from spiritual protection to wisdom. The word necromancy derives from the Greek νεκρός (nekrós), "dead", and μαντεία (manteía), "divination".
What I like about it is how it presented necromancy in a very light way. (it's not a surprise because of its intended audience).
Sabriel
Sabriel is the daughter of the Mage Abhorsen. Ever since she was a tiny child, she has lived outside the Wall of the Old Kingdom - far away from the uncontrolled power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who won't stay dead. But now her father is missing and Sabriel is called upon to cross back into that world to find him. Leaving the safety of the school she has known as home, Sabriel embarks upon a quest fraught with supernatural dangers, with companions she is unsure of - for nothing is as it seems within the boundary of the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatens much more than her life, and comes face to face with her hidden destiny...
-I love the strong female character in this book. It showed her coming of age and how she learned how to become an Abhorsen.
Lirael
Lirael has never felt like a true daughter of the Clayr. Abandoned by her mother and ignorant of her father's identity, Lirael resembles no one else in her large, extended family living in the Clayr's Glacier. She doesn't even have the Sight - the ability to See into the present and possible futures - that is the very birthright of the Clayr.
Nonetheless, it is Lirael in whose hands the fate of the Old Kingdom lies. She must undertake a desperate mission under the growing shadow of an ancient evil - one that opposes the Royal Family, blocks the Sight of the Clayr, and threatens to break the very boundary between Life and Death itself. With only her faithful companion, the Disreputable Dog, to help her, Lirael must find the courage to seek her own hidden destiny.
Garth Nix draws readers deeper into the magical landscape of the Old Kingdom and weaves a spellbinding tale of discovery, destiny and danger.
-This book still has a female character. Compared to Sabriel I am more draw to Lirael's character. She may not be a very strong character but I could relate how she fought being different from the others. She may be very different but she is also very special.
Abhorsen
The long-buried secrets of the Old Kingdom and the Ninth Gate are revealed in the sequel to Sabriel and Lirael. Orannis, the Destroyer, has been freed from its subterranean prison and now seeks to unleash its terrible powers. Only Lirael, Abhorsen-in-Waiting, has any chance of stopping this enemy of all Life. As she and her companions - Sameth, the Disreputable Dog and Mogget - set out on their fated journey, Lirael has no idea of what lies ahead. Only days earlier, Lirael was merely a Second Assistant Librarian. Now, with only a vision from the Clayr to guide her and without the experience of Abhorsen Sabriel and King Touchstone, she must search both Life and Death for some means to defeat the Destroyer. Before it is too late...
-This is the last book in the series. This is were the two female characters help each other fight of the rising evil in the Old Kingdom.
I was sad when I finished reading the series. I learned to love the characters and exotic settings of the books. But fortunately Garth Nix is working on a prequel and sequel. Can't wait!

I finished reading Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials. I came across this book years ago when I was in College. I love reading young adult novels so I always wonder in that section of the bookstore when I am finished with the art and horror sections. The design cover attracted me. It somehow reminded me of a book I read in my primary years about a life of a cat. I didn't really buy the book since it cost php 600+ then.
Years after...me and my sister watched the Golden Compass movie. The movie for me sucked (well except for the nice special effects and superb visuals) because the plot and pacing was too fast. I couldn't quite grasp the characters and the settings. I wanted more. I fell like that there more to it... as my friend Lelit would say "Do not judge a book by its movie." I went to the bookstore found that it's only php 300 per book I immediately bought the three books. I spent the Holidays reading the three books.
His Dark Materials, a trilogy of fantasy novels by Philip Pullman, comprises Northern Lights (1995 — released as The Golden Compass in North America), The Subtle Knife (1997) and The Amber Spyglass (2000). The trilogy follows the coming of age of two children, Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry, as they wander through a series of parallel universes against a backdrop of epic events. The story involves fantasy elements such as witches and armoured polar bears, but alludes to a broad range of ideas from fields such as physics, philosophy, and theology. The Golden Compass
The Subtle Knife
The Amber Spyglass
This series is kinda controversial since with its atheistic undertones and its subtle attack on the church's customs and traditions. Conservative Christians are somewhat appalled since it is for young adults. For me its good read and definitely just FICTION. My faith is not that weak to falter with a bunch of fictional books. hehehe

It's a new year. We all have our own set of new Resolutions. We all want to start our new year right. I used to make very materialistic new resolutions focusing more one what I should have by the end of the year. When You became older your resolutions are more focused on one's personal well being. Every year I always say to myself I should have a more positive outlook in life. As I have gone through many phases in trying out to have a more happier deposition in life. I learned the best way to fight depression in exercise.
That is when I started to be conscious of my body fitness. I used to be thin and I did not worry about my weight. At that time my eating habits was very unhealthy. When finally my eating habit became normal I also started to gain weight. Both of my parents are Diabetic. SO I MUST really watch my health.
After indulging in Holiday festivities I have definitely gained weight. Starting my new year right I went to formulate a plan action to shed off my holiday bulge. First I should have a diet plan and a new exercise schedule. I am planning to do my pilates thrice a week. But I think I should double my efforts in my dieting. There are lots of weight loss program out there. After surfing though the net I came upon a new kind of diet called Magnetic Diet.
What attracted me to this diet it that it didn't say that you require to take pills, buy lots of exercise equipment, and you don't have to starve yourself! This is definitely is very promising. It involves craving control, meditation, visualization and the law of attraction, exercises, how to boost metabolism , and food magnetism.
I'm trying out the free mini course and maybe this could help me obtain my number one new year's resolution!

My new year did not actually start out with a bang. New year's here in Davao is very silent since fireworks are banned. I was not really up to celebrating but I had to drag myself to the dinner table. I ate ham and white spaghetti. After I went to sleep. I woke up due to my incessant coughing! I even puked everything I ate! After puking my guts out I could no longer sleep because it was too hot and I was coughing badly. I stayed up till 3 am playing neopets. What a loser I am.
Anyways even though my year started out crappy I am still very hopeful and enthusiastic for the coming year. I still have not finished my project 25 but somehow I only got the art works for the final chapter to worry about. After finishing that I will start my art blog project.
And then there's Uly. Thats another story.
Happy New year everyone!
